Noxious Weed Department

Responsibilities
The Seward County Noxious Weed Department is responsible for identifying and controlling noxious weeds through out the county, as required by the Kansas Noxious Weed Law adopted by the state in the late 1930s.

By this law, all counties and landowners in Kansas are responsible for controlling noxious weeds. The Seward County Noxious Weed Director sprays weeds not only on county land but is also contracted by the State of Kansas and the Southern Pacific Railroad to identify and control noxious weeds on rights of way owned by them in Seward County.

The County Weed Director assists the landowners by, selling at a cost share, chemicals to control noxious weeds, or for a fee, spraying the noxious weeds on privately-owned land within the County.
